KENYA RAILWAYS SUSPENDS COMMUTER SERVICES

Kenya Railways has announced the suspension of commuter train services in Nairobi due to Azimio la Umoja-led anti-government demonstrations.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga noted that the routes that will be affected by the suspension include; The Nairobi Commuter Rail Service trains which serves between Nairobi Central station and Lukenya, Syokimau, Embakasi Village, Ruiru, Kahawa West and Limuru.

The route between Nairobi Terminus and Ngong station will also be affected.

“Commuter train services will temporarily be suspended on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, this is a precautionary measure arising from recent incidents where our stations were vandalised and trains stoned, putting passengers’ lives at great risk.”” said Mainga.

Kenya Railways will communicate when services on the routes will return to normal.
