OPEN THE SERVERS TO END THE QUARREL

Edwin Sifuna senator of Nairobi county has stated that once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers are opened, the Azimio la Umoja coalition will congratulate the legitimate winner of the August 2022 presidential election.

Sifuna believes that because the servers have indisputable proof of who won the election, they should be made available to them in order to end the squabbles.

“One of the things we have put on the table and it is on the national discourse is that there is a way to establish with finality who won that election. The truth is somewhere in a server that we argue is public property. And if we want to settle this truth with finality there is a way we can ascertain that,” said Edwin Sifuna.

The senator added that once the rightful winner is determined, they will openly congratulate him saying that citizens deserve the truth.

He also stated that the Supreme Court should be told the truth about the servers, claiming that they were “surprised” during the presidential election petition hearing.

Edwin claimed that the servers were subjected to insufficient scrutiny, which was not presented to the court during the hearing.

“They (Supreme Court) did issue an order for scrutiny which requires that you scrutinize every technology that was utilized, we did not get to see that happening but they went ahead to make the decision that they made,” he said.

President Ruto has in the meantime scoffed at Mr. Odinga’s demands stating that the IEBC servers have remained open and accessible ever since Kenyans took to the polls last year.

“It is also true that when the counting was done and the results posted in the portal, the servers were open.

When the IEBC was tallying results at Bomas when the matter went for validation in court, and when the court made a determination of the last general elections, the servers were open,” said President Ruto.

Azimio La Umoja leader Mr. Odinga has been calling for the IEBC servers to be opened ever since a January whistleblower report alleged that he won the elections after garnering 58% of the total votes cast compared to Ruto’s 42 which alleged findings do not match the IEBC’s official tally of 50% to 49% in favor of President Ruto.

Mr. Odinga has since vowed to not halt his quest to challenge the government until the servers are made public.
