A police officer belonging to the Recce Squad was killed in Nakuru county’s Mazembe area after being seriously injured in an attack by armed thugs.
According to the police, Harrison Onywonki was in the company of his two brothers; Hezron Onwonga and Morara Onwonga when they were attacked by a group of about five armed robbers.
The attack took place as the three brothers were returning home from a family meeting in Nakuru City Centre when they were cornered at a dark alley with rungus and machetes.
According to the police, the three brothers were left with multiple injuries on their bodies after fighting back the thugs in an aim to save their phones from being stolen.
They were later rushed to the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital (PGH) by police officers on patrol, but Onywonki died from his injuries while receiving treatment.
“Kenya Police Service officers and DCI officers visited the scene under the command of SCPC Nakuru West,” the police said.
The other two brothers were treated and discharged in fair condition.
