The gazettement of the PSs now paves the way for their swearing-in which is scheduled to take place on Friday at State House Nairobi.
The National Assembly approved the vetting reports on Thursday presented by various departmental committees that carried out the vetting process of the 51 nominees.
Despite the fact that Minority side had questioned the manner in which the vetting and approval of the Principal Secretaries were rushed, the Kenya Kwanza side led by Majority led by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa defended the move saying the government needed their services in their respective ministries.
“…we have done this very quickly because, every committee took time to interrogate the nominees,” said Ichung’wa
The vetting of the 51 had been delayed by a petition filed by the Law Society of Kenya which was however dismissed by Justice Nduma Nderi on grounds that it was filed prematurely.
According to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) which had moved to court seeking to bar the National Assembly from proceeding with the vetting saying that the list lacked gender balance, tribal balance and regional balance.
The swearing in of the new PSs will hereby take place on Friday at State House Nairobi.
