A 19– year-old suspected of killing a man in Marsabit town and fleeing has been arrested.

The suspect who is believed to have murdered Muhammed Abdi Jaldesa in cold blood last Thursday, was arrested on Monday, December 26, by Marsabit-based detectives.

“Following a tip-off by a member of the public, the suspect was flushed out of his hideout today morning and a blood stained knife believed to be the murder weapon recovered from him,” police said in a statement.

Now the suspect is set to be arraigned on Tuesday to face murder charges.
His arrest comes just days after a three suspected members of a car theft syndicate were arrested in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

The three were found to be in possession of an assortment of weapons including two AK-47 rifles, 9 rounds of ammunition, 9 arrows and jungle police uniform.

Ayub Ali Uasin Gishu County Police Commander on Friday said the arrest was a result of intelligence reports from investigative agencies in conjunction with members of the public.

Ayub said the three might be part of a car theft syndicate since several fake number plates and log books were also found in the house where they lived.

“One of the suspects had a fake police identification card which means these individuals impersonate police officers when committing crimes. The court has allowed us 14 days to finish our investigation and we shall leave no stone unturned,” said Nyale then.

According to the investigations, the syndicate has a specific number of vehicles they target for theft while masquerading as police officers with ammunition, whose serial numbers he says have been tampered with.
