Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu mourns the death of his mother, Ms. Monica Njeri Waititu who succumbed while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
Waititu said that the mother died due to heart failure on Sunday evening at the age of 93 years.
“I have lost a great friend and a dearest mother who I always look up to. She’s always been my inspiration.
My mother has been fighting other chronic diseases but finally succumbed to heart failure at Aga Khan Hospital,” he stated.
Plans for the burial are ongoing.
Waititu has been out of politics for almost two years after he was impeached by the Kiambu County Assembly for engaging in corruption, economic crimes and conflict of interest.
His impeachment was later on upheld by the Senate and he has been in court since trying to challenge his impeachment. At the time of his impeachment, he termed it as malicious and politically motivated.
According to family source, Ms. Njeri, is likely to be buried in the course of the week at Limuru, Kiambu county
